Students at ACE honoured the fallen as part of a special Remembrance service on Friday the 10th November 2017. They were a credit to the Academy demonstrating outstanding behaviour as they paid their respects.
Prior to this event, students had considered the importance of Remembrance and wrote poems to reflect on the bravery, suffering and sacrifice of soldiers past and present from all backgrounds and nationalities.
The top twenty poems created were collated into an Anthology to mark the occasion.
Leigh Maydew, a Chaplain for the Methodist Church in Wednesbury and a Chairman of the British Legion Wednesbury Unit attended our event as our honoured guest and was presented with a copy of the Anthology.
Many of the poems were later read out in the service held in Wednesbury on Remembrance Sunday.
Special commendations to those students who wore military dress in recognition of the various armed forces, Sammie Dong who played "The Last Post" flawlessly, the poets whose work was included in the anthology and our Poet Laureate, Megan Wilkinson from Year 9 who presented our Anthology on behalf of the Academy.
