Sixth Form Career Education Information
Advice and Guidance
Preparing our students for the world of work or further education is at the heart of our Sixth Form Curriculum Policy. All Year 12 students have a weekly work placement if following the academic or vocational pathways, or the opportunity of work experience if following the Level 2 pathway.
Year 13 students follow a programme of preparing for university or the world of work. This includes support for application processes, interview preparation, work skills development and independent living skills programme.
Nicky Davis (previously of Prospects) is employed full time in the Sixth Form Area and is on hand to offer CEIAG to students as requested. She offers drop-in sessions, a regular after school application surgery for universities, apprenticeships and other employment advice and, together with Nina Williams (Learning Resource Centre Manager), supports students with personal statements and CVs.
Our link, through our Academy Sponsor, Wolverhampton University has given us direct access to advice on the UCAS application process, university funding for students and parents, subject specific advice, visits and support with clearing on results days. As well as a range of activities through their outreach programme.
This support is for accessing any University not just Wolverhampton. However for students who may wish to apply to Wolverhampton University and show evidence of hard work and endeavour, they offer 3 students a bursary of up to £2,000.
We are delighted with the support we receive from a number of local businesses, who have recently taken part in mock interview days and our work placement programme.
