Pupil Premium & Catch-up Premium
This grant is viewed by the government as the best way to enable schools to address the current underlying inequalities between children who are or have been eligible for free school meals in the past 6 years (FSM and Ever6), children in care, children whose parents are in the armed forces and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
ACE Academy also receives a Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Fund which provides schools with additional funding from the Department of Education to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2.
It is for the school to decide how the Pupil Premium and Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Fund is spent. However, schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils who qualify. National performance tables now capture the achievement of the pupils covered by the Pupil Premium compared to other pupils, and likewise for those pupils who attract the Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Fund.
At ACE Academy, we utilise the Sutton Trust EEF Toolkit, Literacy and numeracy interventions recommended by the Department for Education, and our own experience and expertise to help shape how we use the Pupil Premium and recommendations grant at both an individual pupil and whole school level.
